The Blog of Daniel

Just my place to write without any delusions of self-importance.

Sites

Today was the last step in decentralizing all of my internet presences.

A little over a year ago I came to the conclusion that all of the sites I started were way too dependent on me.  I hosted everything on my own servers and paid for all out of my own pocket.  I don't want it to sound like I am under the impression that the world revolves around me, which it most certainly does not, but there are enough users of all my stuff that I want to make sure they're covered if something should ever happen to me.

Now all of the majors sites are paid for from donations.  All the web sites are now hosted by GoDaddy, the bot for our chat room is hosted at yet another company, and as of today all email is hosted at Google using their new hosted email service.

The single point of failure crisis has been averted.
