Jumping Rainbows

A giant leap

Earlier today I put up an entry that was originally started on the 12th of this month.  In it I talked about the fact that I would really struggling with not being able to pick up the phone and hear Cullen's whenever I had something on my mind, but was just thinking about him and missing him.  Well, I have some good news on that front!  Shortly after I started that entry, I saw a laptop in the Best Buy ad that was just over $600, and had the capability of having double the memory of my current one.  First off, I was excited that it was on sale, and that I had the opportunity to get what would have been about an $800 computer for much cheaper.  After all, even though I don't think about it much, I do live on a fixed income, and any little bit of savings helps.  Even as excited as I was though, I knew that I couldn't get it right at that exact moment.  The checkbook just wasn't allowing me to.  Then, out of almost nowhere, mom says, "I can pay for it, and then you can pay me back, or you can pay for part of it now, and I'll pay for the rest of it and you can pay me back later.  I really don't care how we do it, but that's a really good deal." Needless to say, a week later, it was done!

Now, when most people get a new computer, they're probably excited because they're going to have more space to put more things such as photos, music, and pretty much anything under the sun they could think of.  Don't get me wrong, I was excited for all those things, but there was one program in particular that I was absolutely overjoyed about being able to install.  It was a program that I had tried to install on my previous computer, but with my previous computer being as old and just as worn out as it was, it wouldn't support it.  Every time I tried to install it, my computer would just shut down.  It was a program that would give him and I so much more freedom than we had at that moment!  IT WAS SKYPE!

For those of you who are unfamiliar with what Skype is, and what it can do, it's basically a computer program that you can use just like you would use a regular phone or a cell phone, except you can do it all with the computer.  There's one feature, however, that it has that no traditional phone or cell phone up to this point has: video calling!  This means that if the two people communicating with Skype both have microphones and web cams, they can see and hear each other!  He and I couldn't have asked for anything more perfect!  This way, since we both have all the needed equipment, he can hear me, and I can see his answers.  Amazing beyond words!

Since that prayer was answered, maybe one day my prayer for him to be able to speak will be answered.  Only time will tell, and only He knows how Cullen's life path is going to continue.  All I can do is wish, pray, and hope!  Smile
