Things are not always what they seem......

My doctor has been telling me for the longest time now that I really should be eating yogurt to help with infections I get and different things.  We have this discussion every time I go see him.  I have tried buying the frozen yogurt in the little cups and every one I have tried has just tasted terrible to me.  I know I am a picky eater, but I really have tried the yogurt.

Well, last Friday my mom and I was doing my grocery shopping and we came across some bottles of smoothies in a bottle and it said it was made with yogurt.  The subject came up about my doctor wanting me to eat yogurt so I told mom I would get a couple of the strawberry ones and try them.  They looked like they would be good and I imagined they might would be close to drinking a milkshake.  I had saved them and didn't want to drink them both up right away because I have to go to the grocery store once a month so I try to spread things out a little.

I haven't been feeling good this week so the Home Health nurse came and took a bunch of blood and different things to check to see if I had an infection, which I tend to do at times.  I was pretty sure it was a kidney infection.  I got the call yesterday letting me know it was not a kidney infection I have, it is a yeast infection.  The first thing I thought of was my doctor always telling me to eat yogurt to keep that from happening.  I was on 3 different antibiotics back to back this past month and we are pretty sure that is where it came from.

So anyway, today I said I would finally try one of my smoothies since I needed to be eating/drinking yogurt right now anyway.  I took one sip and my first thought was "I have tasted something like this before" and that was not a good thing....it tasted awful.  I kept drinking a little because I thought, well I don't want to waste the money on these so I can at least drink these, and just not buy anymore.  I got almost half of one drank and realized it taste just like that chalk stuff they give you at the hospital right before they do certain tests on you.  That is how bad this stuff tastes.  I will be getting rid of it or seeing if I know anybody that wants the other bottle because I do not want to and will not drink any more of it.  It has been at least 30 minutes since I stopped drinking it and I can still taste it.  Blegh!

When I go back to my doctor the end of this month, I will be letting him know that I tried again and we are just going to have to give up that idea.

So next time you buy something you think looks really really good, don't get too excited until you try it because everything is not always how it seems....

Take Care and God Bless,

Bev
