Promise Broken

In the spring of life when I was strong.
I found the one that would be queen.
At the alter we did stand.
The ring of promise on her hand.

Working hard to make the bread.
She honored me so, by sharing her bed.
Joy we share, Love moves forward.
Cruel words are then spoken.
Now we have a promise broken.

The world turns, with it's confusion.
All hope is lost with  disillusion.
A gentile hand then reaches out.
Calms my soul with grace and ease.
I have hope for inner peace.

Vow is made before God and man.
Through life we would go hand in hand.
Mockery of love, twist of fate,
Now it's all turned into hate.
Cruel words are then spoken.
Now we have a promise broken.

Many times I  bare my soul.
With open arms I give my all.
A love pure and will not fall.
Commit to virtue, I will be true.
Goes full circle to my  demise.
Ends up in guilt that I despise.

I make an oath to do my best.
Turn all to dust, I lose my trust.
I'm weary of cruel words that are spoken.
That end up with promise broken.
